Julius Vernell Reid, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9th and is now in heaven with our Lord. His strength, fighting spirit, humor and faith gave everyone who knew him a better appreciation for life. He will forever be a part of us all.

Julius Vernell Reid

Julius Vernell Reid, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9th and is now in heaven with our Lord. His strength, fighting spirit, humor and faith gave everyone who knew him a better appreciation for life. He will forever be a part of us all.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marie Jo, his children, Becky Harrington and husband Eric, Alan Reid and wife Gina, Dorothy O'Shea and husband Mike, Nancy Jonika and husband Gary, Vivian Burns and husband Joe, Christopher Reid and wife Tracy, Elizabeth Parada and husband Nelson, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous friends.

A visitation service will be held Thursday, September 14, receiving guests at 2:00 p.m., the rosary will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Brookside Cypress Creek Funeral Home, 9149 Hwy 6 North, Houston, TX.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 15th, at Christ The Redeemer Church, 11507 Huffmeister Rd, Houston, TX. A reception will follow at the church.

The graveside service will be next Friday, September 22nd, starting at 2:30 p.m. at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX.

Julius served in the United States Airforce for 26 years, primarily stationed at MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL, as well as serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring from the military, he furthered his career working for Texas Instruments and Halliburton in Houston, TX. He loved his family, his faith and his many hobbies. Heaven has received a beautiful soul. He will be missed very much by all who knew him.
